NDCC Scholars Grant Awarded

We are pleased to announce that a collaborative proposal from Tarrant County College District, NDCC, and the Automation Robotics Research Institute has been chosen for funding from the Texas Workforce Commission. The "NDCC Scholars" project will be funded through the Texas Workforce Commission Youth in Technology Grant Award of $520,080 for an 18-month period beginning in January 2010.

The purpose of the grant initiative is to expose first year college students considering Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to career opportunities and technologies in the ADAM sector. The desired outcome is to retain these students in the STEM study track and ultimately encourage them to seek careers in the ADAM industry sector. There will be a special focus on recruiting and retaining females and underrepresented groups.

The 120-hour training will be completed in three phases: Pre-Internship work readiness, Pre-Internship hands-on laboratory orientation and Supervised Internship at a company location. A cumulative total of 300 students will participate in the program.
